Claire is here!!!

Claire Nina was born on June 13 @ 2:01 pm. She was 8lbs and 20in long. My water broke at 4:00am and we arrived at the hospital at 6:00ish. I was only 2 cm. So, pitocin was given and I dilated a whopping 2 cm from 8:00 until 1:00. Only to then have my epidural wear off. The anest(can't spell the rest)ologist wasn't able to get down in time to restart the epi as I dilated from 4cm to 10cm by 1:30. By the time the doctor came in and all was ready, I started pushing, med free, at 1:50 and pushed for a total of 11 minutes, but it felt like and eternity. I literally felt like I was pushing my insides out of my body. Poor Mike was not sure how he could help.

But, Claire is absolutely perfect and beautiful. She came out screaming, but at 4 weeks old, she is pretty mellow. Hoping this continues! Kyle absolutely adores her. He doesn't care for her when she cries, but is getting a bit more used to that. He wants to hold her and talks to her. He plants the occassional kiss on her forehead. It is quite sweet to see. I am still in disbelief that I have given birth to two amazing kids. My IF days are still fresh.

not too much longer

So much for my blogging dream of documenting this pregnancy more regularly than with Kyle.  Sigh.  Better something than nothing I guess.

Things are going well.  I had a 36 week appt on Monday and I had an internal.  I was a fingertip dilated and 50% effaced.  Now, I know this does not mean much.  But, it is progress.  And my ob did say she would induce me at 39 weeks if I wanted since this is my second and b/c I delivered so quick with Kyle.  I do have a fear of not making it to the hospital in time and this has me nervous.  My parents can get here in about 30 minutes if needed and then it will take another 20 minutes to get to the hospital.  so nearly an hour.  With Kyle, I got to the hospital checked in at 9:00 and was ready to push at noon.  Mike and I keep discussing the fact that this time around could likely be quick, but who knows, maybe it will be a 37 hour labor.

Next appt is on Wednesday when I will be 37w3d.  Wow.

29 1/2 weeks

wowza, can't believe I am that far along.   I am so busy with so many other things that this pregnancy just is kinda secondary.  WIth Kyle, the pregnancy was my focus, always.  With baby girl, I swear there are days that went by that I didn't even think about being pregnant.  Although that is getting harder to do these days as I am getting bigger and more uncomfortable.  There is no way I am even close to being ready for this little girl to come.  Things to work on include:
  • pick a name
  • clean out the office
  • paint the office
  • buy stuff (list includes random things like blinds, rug, bottles, burp rags, etc)
  • work on potty training Kyle some more, ugh.
The list looks a lot LONGER in my head, but I guess that doesn't look that long.  Still, better get going on it.

Its a girl!!

Everything looked fabulous at our 20 week u/s on 1/27 and we are happy to say we are having a baby girl. So weird to start thinking pink after blue has been in my life for the last 2 1/2 years. I am starting to get used to it...

16 week appt

This pregnancy has been so very different than ds. I really thought when I became pregnant again, all would be right with the world and I would just be crying tears of joy the entire time. But that is not exactly how things are going along. I feel like pregnancy this time around is harder on me. I have had weird pains, and I have had Braxton Hicks contractions already. That is kinda scary as frequent contractions landed me in the hospital around 27 weeks. So, for now, I need to drink my water and relax more.

I had my 16 week appt today and everything seems good. Every time I go to the doc, it always feels like a let down. I am not sure why. But with Kyle, the appts always seemed fun and exciting (well, at least from what I can remember). I have gained a total of 4 pounds since week 9 (or 1 pound since ET...whichever way you wanna look at it). I am happy with that since I had gained around 12/13 pounds by this time with Bub. I have my level II (elevated risk since I had IVF) u/s scheduled for January 27. I know I will be nervous, but it is too far off in the future to really think about it right now.

One of the suckier things about todays appt though was getting a prescription for some support stockings. Thanks to pregnancy number 1, my advanced age and my family history, I am at an increase for developing varicose veins. And man, this is so embarrassing for me. I feel so superficial about it, but it is something that really really really bothers me. Now, I need to go get "fitted" for some hose that is going to cost me $140! Can you believe that price???? Ridiculous. DH is trying to make jokes about it, which I appreciate, but it is still very upsetting. Wish I wasn't so vain. HA.

chugging along

I really had great intentions of posting a heck of a lot more than I have been. I swore I would journal my pregnancy better than I did with Kyle. And I also swore to myself I would not worry with my second pregnancy. All these things have not come true. Pregnancy equals stress and worry. No doubt about it!! I can at least say I am now 10w5d (!!) and I am feeling pretty good. I feel like the bulk of my nausea was between 5 and 9 weeks. Thanks to not being able to eat that much, I dropped a few pounds. I would love to gain 25-30 pounds vs. the 45 pounds I put on with Kyle.

After much debating, we decided to forgo the NT scan and just pray like crazy that all is well. I am just so concerned that my result would come back not in our favor and I would worry the rest of the pregnancy since I am a tad antiamnio. I feel a great sense of relief in making this decision.

We plan on telling family at Thanksgiving. It is exciting, but once the cat is out of the bag there is no turning back. Again, continue to pray like crazy that all is well.

I am 7w 3d today.  I have been feeling pretty good, but definitely feel a bit "off". Eating isn't a priority and quite honestly most foods do NOT sound appealing at all.  After I do eat, most of the time I feel a little sick.  Luckily, that is as far as it has gone so far.  Hoping this it the extent.  I am also pretty tired.  But, I know the change of weather, having parent teacher conferences recently and chasing around a 2 year old doesn't help with that cause.  But come 5:00 and Holy Cow, I am just exhausted.

I had a small scare last week when one of my kindergartners came into class after seeing the nurse for a suspected case of 5ths disease.  This can be very harmful to a developing baby.  so, off to the ob I went for a bloodtest.  Luckily, I am immune to it since I had this infection at some point in my life.  Phew.

I told mom and pop on Monday and they were happy, but cautious about being too excited at this point.  Which I appreciate.

Everyone else in the families will find out on Thanksgiving.  we got a big brother shirt for Kyle to wear. It should be fun and cute.  I just wish I could have 15 more u/s before then, but that doesn't look like that will happen.  Next appt is with ob on November 13.  They tell me no u/s, but I will request one.  Seems like forever away....

oh, and my friend Jen decided to tag me, but I can't seem to copy paste right now, so I will complete that later :)
